Hafas Furqani

Prof. Dr. Hafas Furqani, M.Ec. is a Professor of Islamic Economics at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Ar-Raniry, Banda Aceh, Indonesia, and former Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), a position he held during the 2022–2026 period. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Shari’ah Mu’amalah from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 2002, followed by a Master of Economics in 2006 and a Ph.D. in Economics in 2012 from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His academic career includes teaching at IAIN Ar-Raniry and research experience at the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) in Malaysia. In June 2023, he was appointed Professor in the field of Islamic Economics at UIN Ar-Raniry. His scholarly contributions focus on the philosophical foundations, epistemology, and methodology of Islamic economics, Islamic economic thought, Islamic finance, economic ethics, distributive justice, and the relationship between Islamic economic principles and human well-being (maslahah). His publications include research on the theoretical construction of Islamic economics and its moral and philosophical foundations.
