Mardani Malemi is an Indonesian academic, researcher, writer, and former journalist based in Aceh. He teaches at Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh and has extensive experience in journalism and editorial work, including serving as an editor at a media organization within the Jawa Pos Group.
His scholarly and public writings focus on public governance, public administration, civil service policy, institutional reform, and contemporary policy issues. His opinion articles have appeared in leading Indonesian media, including Harian Kompas (Kompas.id) and Detikcom. His publications in Kompas.id include discussions of cannabis regulation, work–life balance for civil servants, and the revitalization of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia.
As a researcher, he has examined issues related to good governance, including flexible work arrangements for civil servants and cross-ministerial data integration for evidence-based policymaking and data-driven governance in Indonesia.
Beyond academic and journalistic writing, Mardani Malemi is the author of the philosophical novel Jiwa yang Termaafkan, published by Republika in Jakarta, and has worked as an editor of philosophical works. He was a Fellow of the Investigating Aceh 2007–2008 Program, organized by the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Indonesia in cooperation with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and has received recognition in several local and national writing competitions.
